This is a dynastes hercules or rhinoceros beetle they can be found in central and northern south america. Amazingly the dynastes hercules can grow up to 170 mm (6.75 in.)!

Thought this guy looks like a English Bloke. I'm still working on this one but I wanted to get it up before weeks end. I'm using the GIMP GNU Image Manipulation Program to color and enhance the sketch. For anyone who always wanted to mess around with image editing programs but couldn't afford Photoshop or Corel try the GIMP it's FREE!

This is the first post to my new blog and my first submission to Illustration Friday. I drew this last night in my sketchbook using an assortment of charcoal pencils, a white ink pen, and a couple of Micron felt tip ink pens. Illustration Friday "Sea".
